.Day 108 - 11/9/07 - Resuming to Waikere Steve's Report: We arrived back to Liz's house in time for lunch. Liz is very interesting, having written two children's books on the river and some other stuff that I hope to share with you later. The house they built is quite ecofriendly but their verandah looked like a heap of work for them. Also doing up the recycled windows doesn't look like a great deal of fun even though the end result looks great. Anyway it was on the water and away by 2.15pm and a paddle against the wind to Waikerie 20km away. The weather was pretty ordinary and whereas before I had thought the water was cold, today it felt really warm so I guess the day was pretty cool. One of the kayak wheels was broken and we had a flat tyre but we now have a resident boilermaker who is going to weld up the wheel. John seems to have enjoyed the trip so far and he keeps saying how much everything has changed since he was last here. (That was in 1972!!) Tomorrow is supposed to be 29 degrees so I am looking foward to the warmth.
